And this one was taken during my VERY FIRST try with studio lighting! Of course, Little Miss wouldn't look at me lol.... but I was pleased with the results of the lighting and I have even ordered myself some lights to use with newborns and maternity... and on those dark and dreary days!

Back from NC!

I am back from NC, I had a fabulous time! The workshop was amazing! I really didn't get a chance to take any photos of Greensboro itself, but I do have some photos of the models to post later. I'm downloading my images right now. I'll be sure to post some of them tomorrow after I have a chance to edit them.

Good night! :)

Miss A

Here is one from a recent session... Miss A is such a doll in her little hat!

Update...

Wow, I really dropped the ball on those photo tips, didn't I? I promise, I will pick that back up soon. I have been so busy with the launch of my new website and with all my fabulous new clients! It has been a great summer so far!

Anyway, I just wanted to let all my clients know that I will be out of town Friday, July 27 - Sunday, July 29 with no access to email and very little phone access. I am attending a photography workshop in Greensboro, NC. I will reply to all emails and voice mails Monday after I get home.

I am planning some contests and giveaways for my blog in the upcoming months... so stay tuned! I PROMISE not to let months go by without a post again.... I will share some Greensboro shots on my blog when I get back!

Have a wonderful weekend! :)

Taking better pictures of your kids

This is the first installment in a series I will be posting to help you take better pictures of your kids! I would love some feedback on this, so please let me know if these tips help you!

1. Environment

Have you ever uploaded your photos to your computer (or gotten a roll of film back :) ) only to discover that there was a tree growing out of your son's head in the photos? It is easy to miss things like that when you're taking pictures, I've done it many times myself. Train yourself to pay attention to the background and surroundings that will be included in the photo. If something will distract the viewer and take the attention away from your child, put the camera down and take the time to remove the item or reposition your child. It will take some getting used to at first, but it will be worth it when you see the beautiful, uncluttered photos of your child!
